Siggy Putcha


  • Born in Greiz, Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1953
  • Studied woodcarving from 1948-1951, while still in Germany
  • By 1965 he was an accepted member of the Sculptors Society of Canada
  • Working in wood and bronze, he is known for his sports figures, religious figures, female nudes and seated cats
  • Has exhibited his work at the Sculptors Society of Canada, the Ontario Society of Artists at the Art Gallery of Ontario,
    Quebec City and other fine galleries across Canada
  • Received 1st prize in international competitions in 1976 and 1978
